Gymnasts and coaches use many words that are not normally used in conversations outside the gymnastics world.  In addition, the use of many gymnastics words varies from gym to gym, region to region and country to country.

We have created this gymnastics glossary as a gymnastics dictionary to help newer gymnasts and gymnastic parents to understand what the other gymnasts and gymnastic coaches are talking about.

Once a gymnast from Canada visited our gym to work out over a holiday period while on vacation with her family.  When we asked her to tell us what her bar routine was, we literally didn't understand a single word she said about the skills in her bar routine.  The use of language was that different. So we may not have every version of every gymnastics term that is in use in the glossary.

Included in the list of words are skills, elements, movements, body positions, training terms, dance skills and many other gymnastics words and terms.
We believe we probably have the most extensive list of gymnastics terms on the Internet, but since we are constantly finding new terms to add, we consider this a work in progress.
